Beef & barley Soup

  • Ingredients

    • 1 onion
    • 2-3 cloves of garlic
    • 1 branch of Celery
    • 1 tomato
    • Fresh parsley
    • 100 g (0.2 lb) round steak of beef or wild red meat
    • 100 g (0.2 lb) Hungarian salami
    • ½ cup (125 ml) barley
    • Beef broth
    • Salt and pepper

    Preparation

    • Boil enough water to fill a thermos. Take a thermos and pour the boiling water in to preheatit. Close the thermos well and set it aside for at least 10 minutes.
    • While the thermos is preheating, mince a large onion. Chop the cloves of garlic. Dice celery. Extract the flesh of thetomato and dice it as well. Chop some parsley. Then cut up some of the meat and the Hungarian salami.
    • Heat the beef broth in a small saucepan on the stove or in the microwave.
    • Discard water from thermos and pour barley into it. Add the onion, the garlic cloves, the celery, the parsley, the meat, the sausage, salt and pepper. Fill with hotbeef broth. Close the thermos and shake gently to mix all ingredients.
    • After a few hours, you’ll have a delicious beef and barley soup to enjoy!

    *The measurements and quantities are approximate as the goal is to fill the thermos.
